How to clean your make-up brushes!

How often do you clean your make-up brushes?

Every few weeks? Every few months? Years? Never?!

It’s very important to clean your brushes because if you don’t clean them, then load of bacteria will start to build up inside your brushes and you are basically putting old make-up with bacteria inside onto your face which can cause you to break out or could even make you get acne!

Of course you don’t need to wash your brushes every time you use it. It all depends on how much you use brushes. For example: If you use brushes everyday then it’s best to wash them once a week. If you rarely use brushes then once a month.

There are many techniques of how to clean your brushes so you can just go on the internet and type it in or go on YouTube and search on ‘How to clean your brushes’. The way that I am doing it makes the brushes clean and also help me save money.

The things that you will need to use to wash your brushes are:
·         Baby Shampoo
·         Baby Oil
·         Plate/bowl
·         Towel
·         Conditioner (optional)

You can purchase any brand of baby shampoo and baby oil. You can even purchase them from a cheap supermarket. It doesn’t matter on the brand, as long as you get baby shampoo and baby oil then its fine. The reason why it is important to buy it in ‘baby’ as baby shampoo does not have harsh chemicals that will not damage your brushes.

First you need to wet your brush head (make sure you do not go over the brush head otherwise the water will go up inside the brush which can break down the glue that is holding the bristles and the bristles will eventually fall out.

Secondly, pour a reasonable amount of baby shampoo and baby oil into the plate or bowl depending how much brushes you will be cleaning. Get one of your brushes and dip the brush head into the plate/bowl and using your palm, start to rotate the brush onto your pam. This will help give fiction to the brush head and allow the baby shampoo and baby oil get into the smaller area that you cannot get.

Once you have done that, rinse the brush head with warm water and squeeze any excess water that may contain in your brush and place then to the side and wipe it with the towel. When washing your brushes, never have the brush head facing up because water will go inside the brush and can start to break the glue up. Just always have your brush head facing down. Another tip is do not let the water go above the brush head as around that area is the glue is holding the bristles together.

(Optional) – if you want to make your bristles soft, then condition the brush head with any conditioner and rinse it out.

After you have finished washing and rinsing your brushes, you then need to roll one side of the towel to help lay your brushes down. It is very important that you place the head brush down as you do not want any excess water going side your brush and breaking the glue. You could also lay them against a wall but make sure you have a towel at the bottom so the excess water can absorb any water reminding. Make sure you also reshape the head brush back to it forms otherwise the bristles will look like its having a bad hair day!

Leave the brushes to dry for a day and you can start reusing your clean brushes again!

I hope this will help you how to clean your brushes and can help stop you from breaking out!

See you guys soon.
